Also going strong is the fall hem jeans trend. You know the look–the darker shade of denim at the bottom of Rachel Comey’s iconic unhemmed jeans. Well, with a pair of jeans you already have, there’s an easy DIY way to get a similar look! All you need is the right denim pair and a seam ripper! That’s a lot of it. And how do you see what kind of jeans are going to work for this project? Well, every pair of jeans will work technically… and lots of other pants (not just jeans) too. But if you want a visual demarcation line, like those in these pictures, you’ll need a slightly lighter pair of jeans that’s true denim.
How to DIY the Drop Hem Jeans Trend
Take a paid or denim jeans and a seam ripper and start ripping off the pants gently from the bottom seam. Do just a little bit at a time and pull it back to decide if you’ve got lighter denim below before you remove the whole hem.
If the color on the inside (which will be at the very bottom of the pants when finished) is what you had imagined, cut the remaining stitching from the bottom of the pant (on both legs of the suit) and undo the rest.
